In the lower terrestrial zone, Christ stands in a vibrant blue and red robe, handing the keys of heaven to St. Peter who kneels before him, surrounded by the astonished Apostles in a compressed frieze-like grouping. In the upper celestial zone, God the Father is enthroned on clouds amid putti and angelic hosts, pointing toward a heavenly tablet held by angels, while an intermediary angel descends bearing rays of divine light.
